To be discovered online, you need more reviews for your business, but how do you get them? You see all the positive feedback other businesses have on Google, but what about you?
Good reviews don’t happen overnight, which is why it’s important to know how to get positive reviews for your business so that down the road, you have even more success.
Don’t worry, I’ll guide you through the process of how to get reviews for your business.
1. Ask for Reviews
The easiest way to get reviews is to simply ask your customers for them. After your customers have made a purchase or used your services, send them a text or email asking if they would be willing to leave a review. You can also ask in person or include a note with their receipt asking for feedback. Need a solution to ask for reviews? Check out my Get Found Locally platform.
2. Make it Easy
Make it as easy as possible for your customers to leave a review. Include links to your review sites in your emails and on your website. If possible, embed the review form on your website so that customers can leave a review without leaving your site.
If you make it complicated for people to leave a review, such as simply telling them “find me on Google,” people won’t take the time and energy to do the leg work. If you want someone to leave a review on Google, send them directly to review form for your business!
On your Google Business Profile, you can get a direct link to your business’ Google review portal that you can email or text previous customers.

3. Offer Incentives
Offering incentives is a great way to encourage customers to leave a review. You can offer a discount on their next purchase, a free sample of your product, or a chance to win a prize. Just make sure that you’re not bribing customers for positive reviews (this goes against Google’s reviews standards).
So what you can do is this:
- Run a content for your customers
- Tell them that you will be notifying them via email
- Ask for their email and let them know that in that email, they can also give your business a review!
4. Respond to Reviews, Even Negative Reviews
If someone takes the time to leave a review, make sure you respond to it! Thank them for their feedback and address any issues they may have mentioned. This shows your customers that you value their opinion and are committed to providing excellent customer service.
Plus, you can use this opportunity to leave optimized keywords for your business inside your reply! For example, if you are a lawn care company, you can include phrases like “property management,” “shrub cleanup,” “mowing and edging” to help Google see that you truly offer this service.
5. Use Social Media
Social media is a great way to gather reviews. Encourage your followers to leave reviews on your Facebook page or tweet about their experience with your business. Just make sure you include a direct link to leave the review!
More than using social media to get reviews, you should make sure that you are showcasing your reviews on your social media pages, too!
6. Partner with Review Sites
Partnering with review sites like Yelp or TripAdvisor can help you reach a wider audience. Make sure that your business is listed on these sites and that you’re actively monitoring and responding to reviews.
Oh! And here’s a bonus. Each time you’re listed on one of these review website or industry specific directories, you also get a backlink to your website, which is crucial to your SEO.
7. Train Your Staff to Ask for Reviews
Make sure that your staff is trained to ask for reviews and respond to them appropriately. They should be knowledgeable about the review sites that you use and be able to guide customers through the process of leaving a review.
To help your staff, you can include this step in your check-out process and create flyers to hand to customers that are asking for reviews (complete with a QR code, of course!).
8. Highlight Positive Reviews on Your Website and Social Media
When you receive positive reviews, highlight them on your website and social media pages. This shows potential customers that your business is reputable and that others have had a positive experience with your products or services.
9. Don’t Buy or Fake Reviews
Never fake reviews or purchase reviews for your business. Not only is this unethical, but it can also harm your reputation if you’re caught. Instead, focus on providing excellent customer service and encouraging genuine feedback from your customers.
