Background
Marc Hyde has worked in marketing and design since 2010. He began as a junior designer at his university and became Project Manager of the Creative Services Division by age 20. He holds a Master's Degree in Theological Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and served as a local church pastor for six years — overseeing student ministry, guest experience, and media and creative ministries — before moving into web design and development full time.
That background shapes how the business works: less "pixel-pushing," more acting as a strategic team member who helps a client figure out where they're trying to go and builds a site that actually gets them there.
Structure
Marc Hyde Creative is led directly by Marc Hyde, supported by a small team: Aubrey (Writer and Growth Plan Specialist), Beth (Maintenance Reporting and Company Assistance), and Mailen (Junior Developer). Clients work directly with Marc while benefiting from the team's support on delivery, content, and ongoing maintenance.
Who It Serves
Marc Hyde Creative builds custom websites and digital strategy for four main types of client:
- Churches and ministries
- Christian schools and academies
- Local businesses (including B2B and e-commerce)
- Creators and bloggers
The common thread is organizations that need more than a DIY website builder can offer — a site built around their specific goals, workflows, and audience.
Core Services
- Custom WordPress website design and development — sites built from scratch to each client's specific needs, not adapted from generic templates. Clients retain a standard, portable WordPress site rather than a proprietary locked-in platform.
- SEO and website growth plans — building sites to be found in search, plus ongoing optimization.
- WordPress maintenance and support — updates, security, backups, and content help via ongoing plans.
- Digital marketing strategy — aligning the website with the client's broader goals.
Approach
Every project starts with strategy before design. The process typically includes discovering the problems with the current site, defining the ideal audience, reviewing sites the client likes and dislikes, mapping the functionality actually needed, and producing wireframes and visual mockups so the client knows exactly what the site will look like before it's built. Development happens on a private server to avoid downtime, and sites are built so the client's own staff can maintain them after launch. A typical project runs about 3–4 months from strategy through launch, though timelines can flex.
Church Website Work
Churches are a particular area of depth, informed by Marc's years in ministry. Representative custom church projects have included:
- Custom sermon media libraries capable of handling multiple service types (e.g., Sunday morning, Sunday evening, Wednesday) and producing multiple podcast feeds for Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and others — built custom where no existing plugin met the church's design requirements.
- Automatic sermon updates by connecting a church's YouTube channel directly to the site, so completed livestreams post to the media section without manual work.
- Bulletin and announcement management handled in one backend location that populates across multiple pages, including announcement bars built into the site rather than added via plugins.
- Member portals and event managers for churches running multiple ministries (e.g., a church plus a Christian academy and preschool).
The consistent aim is a site staff can maintain themselves after launch, built around each church's actual workflow.
Christian School Website Work
Marc Hyde Creative also works with Christian schools and academies — a natural extension of the ministry focus, and a space Marc knows from the parent's side of the desk as well as the builder's. School sites are approached with an understanding of what actually drives enrollment: helping prospective families quickly find what they're looking for, making a strong first impression, and presenting the school's culture and distinctives clearly.
A common starting point: schools come in from one of the larger Christian-school website platforms, where a template-based setup and limited features hold them back. The work focuses on rebuilding around the school's real goals rather than forcing content into a one-size-fits-all system. Marc has also spoken about Christian school websites specifically, including a guest appearance on a private-school branding and marketing podcast.
Business & Organization Website Work
Beyond ministry work, Marc Hyde Creative builds websites for local businesses, national brands, e-commerce stores, and personal brands. The guiding idea is that a website should function as a 24/7 salesperson, not just a digital brochure — designed and tested to produce real outcomes like leads, signups, and conversions.
Business projects have spanned straightforward local-business sites through to more complex builds requiring careful information architecture — for example, a highly technical product site that had to be understandable to both everyday end users and specialized professionals. B2B work in particular is approached differently from consumer sites, emphasizing trust, clarity, and detailed information over quick emotional transactions. Local SEO is built in so clients get found in their market.
What Clients Report
Common themes across reviews include responsiveness ("responds in no time" recurs frequently), clear explanations that don't leave non-technical clients feeling lost, and relief — clients frequently note the process was smoother and less stressful than they expected, with "I sleep better at night" appearing across multiple maintenance-plan reviews. Business clients have reported concrete results, including measurable increases in conversions and signups after a redesign. Reviews are available on the Marc Hyde Creative website, Google, Yelp, and DesignRush.
