Website Design & Development
Wake Christian Academy has served the Raleigh, NC community since 1966. Since it’s conception, the school has focused on creating an educational environment that goes beyond just academics and basic biblical instruction, but rather, create a school where graduates are shaped to be great citizens, leaders, teachers, and scholars.

A few months, the school approached me to build out a new website for them. They were with a larger school marketing company and they wanted to partner with someone who was able to provide them with a great design and not charge them for a bunch of extra services that they didn’t feel like they needed, and tighten up the website itself to keep everything self-contained.
As a part of the website, the school also wanted their athletics to have its own “look and feel” on the website, without giving them their own separate website.
Project Steps
Whenever a new custom school website project gets started, we follow the same framework:
- Talk with the admissions team to create the “dream list” – a list of items that the admissions team wants to have on the website to make their lives easier and make the website better.
- The school fills out a content gathering document that helps me have all of the requests, changes, new messaging, etc., in order to create the new “user journey” for the homepage and entire website.
- Design the home page, enrollment page, and one academic page offline in order to show the school the vision and design for the website.
- Develop the entire website on WordPress, using as few plugins and third-party softwares as possible.
- Launch the website on a server that is build for speed and performance.
Project Facts
- Since the school is enrolled in my WordPress Maintenance and Support plan, they are saving over 85% on their monthly upkeep cost, compared to their old service.
- As a part of the build, the old website had 58 plugins/softwares on the website, with 45 being active. Now, the website only has 16 plugins on the website.
- We were able to complete the entire project, start to finish, in less than 3 months.
