Solae’ and Silvana are proud Italian Americans who love bringing traditional Italian dishes and culture to the modern-day family. Mamma Mangia was born out of a dream to not lose the family recipes (you can read Solae’s full story here) and together, Solae’ (daughter) and Silvana (mom) created a family cookbook. Soon, Solae’ started a blog to share many of these recipes. A handful of years ago, Mamma Mangia hired a website designer and developer to create a website that powered their blog and e-commerce store, but sadly, they had a terrible experience and were handed a website that was only half done.
After the recommendations of friends, Solae’ and her husband reached out to me to create a new website for Mamma Mangia because the old website became unfunctional and extremely frustrating to manage.
Project Needs & Deliverables
- Before we started, there were only three elements of Mamma Mangia:
- Recipe blog
- E-Commerce
- ConvertKit used to gather sign-ups for a cutting board launch (but not actively utilized)
- After discussing the big picture of Mamma Mangia, here are the elements that we decided to put on the website:
- Properly optimized, SEO in mind, blog post design
- A better e-commerce experience for website visitors, including a custom FAQ section and better product pages
- Easier product inventory management for shipping and fulfillment where the website connects to a Google Sheet so that when the Google Sheet is updated, the stock is updated on the website (and vice versa)
- Properly set up their email marketing software inside ConvertKit (such as if someone purchases an item, they get a different tag than a generic email signup) & utilize different pop-ups in different places on the website to maximize sign-ups
- Set up an easy up-sell on the checkout page to try and sell more Cutting Board Care Kits
- A separate “Our Story” section on the website to show the legacy of Mamma Mangia
- Create a “Mamma’s Favorites” section so that people can find Solae’ and Silvana’s favorite things (all are affiliate links)
- Create an affiliate portal for Mamma Mangia, that includes both affiliate links and coupon codes
- A custom WordPress dashboard to make website management easier
- After launching the website, Mamma Mangia decided to sign up for my Wordpress Maintenance & Support Plan and host their website with me.
