Website Design & Development
Praise Christian Academy, down in the metro Atlanta area, started the process of looking for a new Christian school website designer earlier this fall. For the last handful of years, the school had been using Apptegy/Thrillshare for their website and was tired of paying a massive yearly fee to simply have a website (they didn’t use Apptegy’s communication software because they were already using FACTS). We only had a two months to get the website live before the renewal fee hit so there were some missing pieces at time of launch (like this year’s staff images and new video content), but we are thrilled with the results!
Project Requests & Decisions:
As a part of the discovery process, Praise Christian Academy shared a handful of problems & concerns, and these were our solutions.
Cost: Praise Christian Academy’s website was on a non-proprietary software that was costing over $6,000 per year to maintain. After building the website, Praise Christian Academy subscribe to my Wordpress Hosting, Maintenance, & Support plan, coming in at less than $1,200 per year.
Contact: Over the years, Praise Christian Academy found themselves becoming a number with their old company. The school’s administration desired to be on a first name basis with their website designer.
Simplicity: Even though the old website’s software was powerful, it has complicated to do simple tasks or update pages. With building the website on WordPress, I provided them with an easier content management system, and then with the builder that I use, making content updates are more simple.
Ownerships: When your website is created and hosted on a proprietary software, you don’t own your website – you’re simple renting it (for a super expensive fee I might add). With building the website on WordPress, the school now has 100% ownership of their website.
